Job summary

County of Contra Costa is seeking a strategic, analytical leader to serve as Chief Deputy Director - Exempt in the Employment and Human Services Department. The role requires executive management of public social services and strong relationship-building across bureaus.

Ideal candidates will have a track record in policy development, budgeting, and interdepartmental collaboration, with a commitment to diverse, effective public service delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field or equivalent public administration experience.
• Seven years of increasingly responsible public human services management experience, with at least three years in an executive role.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree with years of experience in public administration in a human services agency are acceptable.
• Desirable: cultural sensitivity and diversity awareness, leadership and strategic planning, legislative knowledge and research skills, comprehensive understanding of governmental administration, strong organizational management, analytical and problem-solving abilities
