Job summary

Cal State East Bay seeks the inaugural Chief Operating Officer for the San Francisco Bay Region Network (SFBRN). The role leads a shared services model across SSU, SFSU and CSUEB to improve efficiency and service delivery.

The COO will provide strategic leadership, manage cross-campus operations, and focus on cost savings while guiding staff through complex organizational change. This on-site position requires travel within the Bay Area.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree required; graduate degree preferred.
• Experience in higher education, public sector, nonprofit, or similarly complex mission-driven organizations.
• Familiarity with multi-campus systems, shared services models, or matrixed reporting structures.
• Ability to travel regularly among the three Bay Area campuses.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and vision for the Network.
• Drive efficiency, effectiveness, and cost savings across member campuses.
• Lead and empower staff to achieve excellence in service delivery.
• Oversee core functional areas—finance, human resources, and information technology.
• Travel among Bay Area campuses as required.
