Job summary

Universal Hospital Services Inc. is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to lead inpatient operations and drive safe, patient-centered care. The role collaborates with the CEO to promote operational excellence, compliance, and performance improvement across departments.

The COO will oversee admissions, patient flow, bed management, and readiness for regulatory surveys, while aligning with strategic initiatives and ensuring staff engagement and accountability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
• 3-5 years related work experience required, 5-8 years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee inpatient hospital operations to ensure safe, efficient, patient-centered care.
• Lead department leaders, monitor KPIs, remove operational barriers, and coordinate across departments.
• Ensure readiness for Joint Commission, state licensing, and other regulatory surveys and audits.
• Collaborate with clinical, nursing, plant operations, risk management, HR, finance, and business development to improve communication and care.
• Develop, monitor, and report organizational KPIs including census, admissions, LOS, patient satisfaction, and quality outcomes.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance oversight for department directors toward operational excellence.
