We are looking for a Executive Communications & Narrative Director who is also a strategic thinker, to partner with the leadership of a global entertainment company. You will be the voice behind some of the most visible moments in entertainment, from industry keynotes and investor events to employee town halls and premieres.
This is not a take-the-brief role. You will earn a seat close to senior executives, understand how they think and speak, and help shape what they say and why it matters. You will advise on narrative, timing, and audience as much as you write.
REPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the lead speechwriter for senior client executives, capturing each principal's voice, rhythm, and point of view
- Write keynotes, remarks, talking points, scripts, toasts, award speeches, op-eds, and internal messages
- Shape executive narratives that connect business priorities to the creative and cultural story of the brand
- Advise executives and their comms teams on message strategy, audience, and moment selection
- Prepare executives for high-stakes moments: speaking prep, Q&A guidance, briefing books, and interview prep
- Partner closely with the client's corporate communications, publicity, investor relations, legal, and events teams
- Turn around rapid-response remarks during news cycles and sensitive moments, with sound judgment
- Build lasting relationships with the executive office, becoming a trusted, go-to advisor
- Collaborate with DE-YAN creative, strategy, and production teams on stage, video, and event moments
- If applicable: brief and edit a bench of subcontracted writers to keep quality and voice consistent
REQUIREMENTS
- 10+ years in executive communications or speechwriting, writing for C-suite or president-level principals
- Entertainment, media, or studio experience: a film or TV studio, network, streamer, theme parks, or an agency serving them
- A portfolio of delivered speeches and executive content that shows range in voice, tone, and format
- Proven ability to act as a strategic advisor, not only a writer: shaping messages, pushing back, and influencing senior leaders
- Fluency in how entertainment companies talk to audiences that matter to them: talent, creators, fans, investors, employees, and the trade press
- Speed and calm under pressure, with strong judgment on sensitive and confidential topics
- Comfort working through client stakeholders, legal review, and multiple layers of approval
Nice To Have
- Experience at or with a major studio or entertainment conglomerate
- Agency or consultancy background, with experience managing client relationships
- Writing for stage, video, and live events, including scripts for screens and teleprompters
- Investor-facing or earnings communications experience
- Experience leading or editing other writers
- Skilled use of AI writing tools within a secure, confidential workflow
