Job description

Most elementary schools lower standards when a student falls behind. You do the opposite. You believe young children are capable of achieving far more than traditional classrooms demand, and you have used measurable results to demonstrate this repeatedly.

Alpha operates on a two-hour academic learning model. In the mornings, adaptive software handles core instruction, freeing your schedule for the interventions that truly transform a child: coaching, accountability, life skills development, and motivation. You directly manage a cohort of K-3 students while simultaneously coaching the Guides—Alpha's adults who mentor and inspire children—accountable for their day-to-day progress. You remain actively engaged daily rather than supervising remotely from an administrative office.

Your typical day rotates through three core activities. You review performance metrics and Coachbot analytics to identify which students and Guides need support. You conduct targeted coaching sessions that result in clear, actionable next steps rather than generic encouragement. And you lead workshops for groups of five- to nine-year-olds on topics like public speaking, focus, or how to give and receive feedback effectively.

When you identify successful strategies, you document them. The playbooks you create set the benchmark that all other Guides implement, expanding your influence from a single cohort to the entire grade level. Demonstrating your ability to replicate this excellence at scale determines your advancement into greater leadership roles.

What You Will Be Doing

• Coaching both Guides and students by analyzing performance data, conducting classroom observations, and delivering direct feedback, then holding each party accountable to specific measurable objectives
• Leading one-hour live workshops for K-3 students focused on life skills including public speaking, focus, collaboration, resilience, accountability, and the ability to give and receive feedback
• Conducting individual and small-group motivational sessions that link each child's personal interests and goals to tangible academic outcomes
• Developing and iterating on playbooks that convert your most effective practices into replicable systems other Guides can implement reliably
• Training Guides on these playbooks and demonstrating excellence in facilitation to maintain standards as the team expands

What You Won’t Be Doing

• Teaching academic content or lecturing traditionally; adaptive applications handle instruction while you focus on coaching people
• Reducing expectations when students encounter difficulty
• Managing from afar as instructional coaches and principals typically do; you remain embedded daily within your own cohort
• Managing campus-wide budget, operations, and parent relations; a Campus Lead handles those responsibilities so you can concentrate on student and Guide performance
• Upholding traditional teaching practices or adhering to a conventional K-12 curriculum

Basic Requirements

• Willing to work on-site at an Alpha campus in Austin, TX or Scottsdale (Phoenix), AZ; relocation assistance is provided
• Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, Organizational Leadership, Child Development, or a related field
• At least 5 years of experience working with elementary-aged children (approximately ages 5 to 9)
• Experience leading a team of 5 or more people, including the authority to hire and terminate based on performance outcomes
• Experience building, launching, or substantially growing a program, team, school, or initiative from inception, not inheriting an established one
• Comfortable working in a school environment that rejects traditional teaching methods
• Legally authorized to work in the United States

Nice-to-have Requirements

• Master's degree in a related field
• Demonstrated track record using metrics, dashboards, or analytics to diagnose challenges and drive measurable improvement
• Experience coaching or managing other adults to achieve measurable outcomes, not simply performing the work yourself
• Background in youth development, camp leadership, competitive coaching, tutoring, or enrichment programs where motivation was a primary focus
• Confidence and ability facilitating or speaking publicly in front of large groups of young children
