Alpha is seeking a Performance Coach for K-3 students, to be based on-site at Austin, TX or Scottsdale, AZ with relocation assistance. You will coach Guides and students using performance data, lead weekly workshops, and drive motivation sessions that connect personal goals to academic success.

Qualifications

• Willing to work on-site at an Alpha campus in Austin, TX or Scottsdale, AZ; relocation provided.
• Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, Organizational Leadership, Child Development, or related field.
• At least 5 years of experience working with elementary-aged children (roughly ages 5 to 9).
• Experience leading a team of 5 or more people, including authority to hire/remove based on performance.
• Experience building, launching, or growing a program, team, school, or initiative from the ground up.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.

When a child falls behind, most elementary schools reduce expectations. You do the opposite. You know a six-year-old can achieve far beyond what conventional classrooms demand, and you have used data more than once to demonstrate it.

Alpha operates on a two-hour learning model. Academic content is delivered through adaptive apps in the morning, freeing your time for the work that truly transforms a child's trajectory: coaching, motivation, life skills, and accountability. You take direct ownership of a cohort of K-3 students while also coaching the Guides (Alpha's term for the adults who coach and inspire students) who oversee their daily development. You remain hands-on every single day, not supervising from a remote office.

Your typical day alternates among three core activities. You analyze performance data and Coachbot analytics to identify which students and Guides need intervention. You facilitate coaching conversations that conclude with clear, actionable next steps rather than vague affirmation. And you lead workshops for groups of five- to nine-year-olds on topics like public speaking, focus, or how to give and receive feedback.

When you identify effective approaches, you document them. The playbooks you create set the standard for all other Guides, expanding your influence from one cohort to the entire level. Your ability to scale that excellence determines your path to greater leadership responsibility here.

What You Will Be Doing

• Using performance data, classroom observation, and direct feedback to coach both Guides and students, then holding each accountable to specific, measurable goals


• Leading one-hour live workshops for K-3 students focused on life skills including public speaking, focus, collaboration, resilience, accountability, and giving and receiving feedback


• Conducting individual and small-group motivation sessions that link each child's personal goals and interests to tangible academic outcomes


• Creating and iterating on playbooks that convert your most effective practices into repeatable systems other Guides can implement reliably


• Training Guides on these playbooks and demonstrating excellence in facilitation to maintain standards as the team expands

What You Won’t Be Doing

• Teaching academic content or lecturing from the front of a classroom; adaptive apps handle instruction while you focus on coaching people


• Reducing expectations when a student encounters difficulty


• Managing from afar the way instructional coaches and principals typically do; you remain embedded daily with your own cohort


• Carrying responsibility for the full campus budget, operations, and parent relationships; a Campus Lead manages those areas so you can concentrate on student and Guide performance


• Advocating for traditional teaching methods or adhering to a conventional K-12 curriculum

Basic Requirements

• Experience building, launching, or significantly growing a program, team, school, or initiative from the ground up, rather than inheriting an existing one


• Comfortable working in a school that rejects traditional teaching methods


• Legally authorized to work in the United States

Nice-to-have Requirements

• Master's degree in a related field


• Demonstrated record of using metrics, dashboards, or analytics to identify issues and produce measurable improvement


• Experience coaching or managing other adults to achieve measurable outcomes, rather than performing all tasks yourself


• Background in youth development, camp leadership, competitive coaching, tutoring, or enrichment programs where motivation played a central role


• Confidence and ability facilitating or speaking publicly in front of large groups of young children
