Qualifications

Must hold a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
Be a practicing attorney licensed in the State of Kansas.
Have at least ten (10) years of progressively responsible legal experience.
Residency in Johnson County, Kansas, within one year of hire with a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

Provide legal advice to the Governing Body, City Administrator, departments, boards, and commissions.
Draft and review ordinances, resolutions, contracts, and other legal documents.
Assist with legislative matters, issue advisory opinions, and process claims.
Lead the Legal Department and oversee municipal court operations and staff.
Advise policymakers and staff to achieve pragmatic municipal solutions.
