Job summary

The Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) in Delaware seeks a Chief of Staff for the DMMA Office of the Director to provide expert policy and operational guidance to the Director and leadership team.

The role coordinates executive priorities, oversees administrative functions, and ensures timely implementation of major initiatives. Strong collaboration with state and federal partners is essential, as is experience managing sensitive issues and leading staff.

Qualifications

• Experience advising executives and senior leadership in a large public organization.
• Ability to translate policy into actionable guidance for diverse stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of regulatory environments and compliance considerations.
• Proven track record coordinating cross-functional teams and projects across divisions.
• Skilled at providing strategic input and operational recommendations to leadership.

Responsibilities

• Confers with the Director, Division leadership, and partners on policy implementation and operational matters, and provides recommended actions.
• Reviews significant issues and ensures timely briefing and routing of responses to the Director.
• Serves as primary liaison to the Office of the Secretary and coordinates executive requests and follow-ups.
• Coordinates with unit chiefs to advance priorities and resolve cross-unit issues.
• Gathers and analyzes information to prepare briefings, reports, and decision materials for executive use.
• Monitors high-priority initiatives and follows up to ensure timely completion.
• Supports coordination across DMMA, DHSS, and external partners to advance Division priorities.
• Represents the Director at meetings and forums as assigned.
