Job summary

St. John's Health Care Corporation is seeking a Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to lead nursing services across the skilled nursing facility.

The role drives clinical strategy, quality outcomes, and regulatory readiness, partnering with operations, medical leadership, quality, and HR to sustain elder-directed care and safe, compliant practices. The CNO will mentor the nursing leadership team, oversee QAPI and performance improvement, and ensure accurate documentation and staffing strategies to

Qualifications

• RN license in New York required.
• BSN required; MSN or related graduate degree preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive nursing leadership in skilled nursing or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of CMS requirements, QAPI, infection prevention, and regulatory readiness.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive clinical oversight for nursing services and establish standards for nursing practice and resident care.
• Lead and mentor the nursing leadership structure and succession planning.
• Develop and execute clinical strategy aligned with organizational priorities and elder-directed care.
• Ensure compliance with federal and New York State requirements and policies.
• Maintain survey readiness and support plans of correction when required.
• Lead QAPI efforts, monitor interventions, and sustain gains.
• Use dashboards and data to monitor quality, falls, infections, and other outcomes.
• Collaborate with Medical Director, pharmacy, rehab, and other disciplines to strengthen coordination.
• Oversee EHR optimization and documentation quality; present updates to leadership.
• Participate in strategic planning, budgeting, and capital decisions affecting nursing services.
