Job summary

The New York Proton Center is seeking a Chief Compliance, Privacy & Legal Officer to lead legal, compliance, privacy, risk management, and insurance matters. You will advise the CEO, executive leadership, and Board, and oversee a comprehensive program to mitigate risk and ensure ethical conduct across the organization.

The role requires strong independence, strategic judgment, and experience guiding complex healthcare regulatory matters, contracts, and governance.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Bar admission to practice in New York State.
• 5+ years of legal, regulatory, compliance, privacy, or related healthcare experience.
• Experience advising executives and Boards on complex issues.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare privacy requirements.
• Experience overseeing investigations, audits, and remediation.
• Strong contract drafting, negotiation, and risk assessment skills.
• Knowledge of insurance, risk transfer, and enterprise risk management.
• Clear written and oral communication with senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Advise the CEO, executives, and Board on significant legal, regulatory, contractual, operational, governance, and strategic matters.
• Oversee the Compliance & Ethics Program and privacy program in line with laws and standards.
• Lead HIPAA privacy compliance, data protection, and incident responses.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and oversee contracts and agreements.
• Coordinate investigations, audits, and regulatory inquiries; manage outside counsel.
• Provide regular enterprise risk and insurance reporting to leadership and the Board.
