Job Summary

As the Executive Chef at Breck School in Minneapolis, MN, you will lead the dining program for students from Pre-K through 12th grade with an all-inclusive lunch service. This role offers a unique opportunity for a culinary leader passionate about scratch cooking, quality service, and community engagement. You will oversee a respected dining program within a close-knit school community, making a positive impact on students’ daily lives through food.

Key Responsibilities:

• Planning menus according to established guidelines
• Following standardized recipes, portioning, and presentation standards; utilizing production worksheets and waste logs; tasting meals for quality assurance
• Training staff in food prep, safety, equipment operation, and sanitation standards
• Maintaining cleaning and maintenance schedules for equipment and facilities
• Managing inventory to stay within budget while ensuring availability of necessary supplies
• Deciding on leftover food utilization within company guidelines
• Ensuring compliance with health and sanitation regulations through audits
• Adhering to safety policies and participating in staff development activities

Preferred Qualifications:

• A.S. degree or equivalent experience
• At least 3 years as an Executive Chef
• Catering experience in small to large-scale events
• Experience in high-volume, complex foodservice operations
• Institutional and batch cooking skills
• Hands-on chef experience required
• Flexibility for evening and weekend events
• Knowledge of food and catering trends, sanitation, and food cost controls
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and internet tools
• ServSafe certification preferred
