Job summary

Great Western Dining Service in Missouri is seeking a Chef to plan, prepare, and oversee high-quality meals for students, faculty, and staff at Moberly Area Community College.

As interim Food Service Director, you will manage back-of-house operations, lead kitchen staff, ensure food safety, and oversee menus, budgeting, and reporting while fostering a diverse, inclusive dining environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Culinary Arts preferred or equivalent experience.
• Experience in personnel management.
• Self-starter, innovative and multitask capable.
• Maintains composure under pressure and motivates a team.
• Passion for excellence in hospitality and food service.
• HACCP knowledge and proper food handling practices.
• Purchasing, storage and sanitation experience.
• P&L and financial reporting experience.
• Knowledge of budgets, labor costs and inventory controls.
• Strong leadership, coaching and training skills.
• Computer skills: MS Office and POS familiarity.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong business etiquette and client relations.
• Knowledge of safe and sanitary food handling principles.
• Commitment to integrity and ethical behavior.
• ServSafe or Health Department certification a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervisory responsibilities in line with policies and law
• Menu development, inventory, purchasing, labor and food cost controls
• Participates in employee meetings and training programs
• Conducts safety, sanitation and maintenance programs
• Maintains food cost while ensuring quality standards
• Leads team development and performance management
• Talent management including hiring, coaching, training and development
• Manages purchasing and inventory controls
• Performs related duties and special projects as assigned
• Acting as interim Food Service Director, oversees all activity and staff
