Job summary

Shamin Hotels seeks an Executive Chef to lead the hotel's culinary operations at our Richmond-area property. You will oversee restaurants, banquets, catering, and room service, guiding menu development, food quality, and cost control to deliver exceptional dining experiences.

The role requires extensive kitchen leadership, a focus on safety and sanitation, and collaboration with Sales and Events teams to ensure successful events.

Qualifications

  • Culinary degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.
  • Five or more years of progressive culinary leadership experience required, preferably in a hotel environment.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation regulations.
  • Proven ability to manage food and labor costs effectively.
  • Experience in menu development, banquet execution, and high-volume food production.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

  • Conduct regular kitchen inspections to maintain cleanliness and organization.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Events teams to execute successful banquets and special events.
  • Create and standardize recipes and ensure adherence to preparation methods.
  • Monitor guest feedback and implement improvements to enhance the dining experience.
  • Develop schedules to ensure appropriate staffing levels for business needs.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within the kitchen.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention of culinary team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

The Executive Chef is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and success of the hotel's culinary operations. This role oversees menu development, food quality, cost control, and kitchen team performance. The Executive Chef ensures exceptional dining experiences for guests while maintaining operational efficiency and compliance with brand and safety standards. Key Responsibilities

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.

  • Frequent bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling in a kitchen environment.
  • Ability to work in high-temperature environments including exposure to heat, steam, and open flames.
  • Manual dexterity to safely operate kitchen equipment and tools.
Work Environment
  • Work is performed in a commercial kitchen environment with exposure to heat, noise, and fast-paced conditions.
  • Frequent interaction with kitchen staff, leadership, and occasionally guests is required.
  • The role requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
