Job summary

Monarch Communities is seeking an Executive Chef to lead day-to-day operations of the culinary services department at our senior living community in New Jersey. You will ensure residents receive nutritious, well-plated meals and oversee a diverse menu, staffing, and budget management.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in culinary arts or related field, ServSafe certification, and 2+ years in culinary services administration, preferably in senior living.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in culinary arts, hospitality, nutrition, or business.
  • At least 2 years culinary services administration experience, preferably in senior living.
  • ServSafe certification required.
  • Experience in cost control, food management, and diet therapy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Windows/Outlook/Excel) and ability to learn new apps.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, delegate, and direct all aspects of the culinary services department.
  • Oversee meal production with high quality, excellent service, and customer satisfaction.
  • Hire, train, and mentor culinary services department staff.
  • Ensure HACCP protocols are followed and documented for safe food handling.
  • Adhere to budgets; occasional weekend coverage as Manager on Duty.

Reports To

The Executive Chef will report to the Executive Director. The Culinary Services Director is an exempt, salaried position.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $75,000 Yearly

Job Overview

Responsible for the successful day-to-day operations of the culinary services department. Ensure resident satisfaction by delivering a variety of food options that are nutritious and well plated.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Planning, organizing, delegating, and directing all aspect of the culinary services department
  • Oversee the production of all meals while maintaining high quality, excellent service practices, and superior customer service
  • Hiring, training, and mentoring all culinary services department associates
  • Ensure all HACCP protocols are adhered to and document to ensure safe food handling
  • Responsible for adhering to budgets
  • Occasional weekend coverage as Manager on Duty
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in culinary arts, hospitality, nutrition, or business
  • Minimum of two (2) years culinary services administration experience, preferably in senior living
  • ServSafe certification required
  • Must have training and experience in cost control, food management, and diet therapy
  • Proficiency in computer skills, Microsoft Office (Windows, Outlook, Excel) with the ability to learn new applications
Physical Abilities
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is often required to stand, walk, sit, use fine and gross motor skills, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and smell.
  • An individual in this position will be required to lift or carry weight in up to 50 lbs. The associate must use proper body mechanics.
