Preferred Qualifications Position Summary

This is administrative and supervisory work involving the development of recipes and menus in a major food establishment. This position requires a higher skill level and longer work hours than the Chef in the meal plan area. Work involves the supervision of special events preparation in accordance with recipes and menus. Work requires training employees on the retail side and preparation and inventory control. Activities and decisions are varied in nature, requiring the solving of both common and unusual problems. Direction is received from an administrative superior on matters pertaining to special menus and operating policies.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Competencies

  • This position requires a substantial and successful track record in profitable kitchen management while maintaining integrity and professional bearing. Possess knowledge of accounting and budgeting along with the ability to compile facts/figures and analyze information that involves data manipulation or interpretation to arrive at logical conclusions. Ability to anticipate and identify issues and exercise initiatives to investigate, interpret and weight alternatives to reach logical conclusions and make sound business decisions.
  • Display consistent professional leadership while simultaneously handling competing and changing priorities and projects. Remain positive, resourceful and possess the ability to improvise while working in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office. Must satisfy and comply with the legal requirements for employees of the University of Georgia

Physical Demands

Frequently stand and walk, speak and hear, use of hands to finger/handle objects, tools, controls, and keyboards; frequently reach with hands and arms. Safely move and handle up to 45lbs frequently. Ability to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, and or crawl. Occasionally operates a motor vehicle. Occasionally work with risk of violence, presence of fumes or airborne particles. Occasionally work in outdoor weather conditions. Occasionally works with risk of electrical shock, and work around vibrations.
