Job summary

Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation in Bethel, Alaska, seeks an Executive Chef to lead campus-wide culinary operations across Hospital, Long Term Care, and Behavioral Health Units. You will train and supervise kitchen staff, plan menus, and ensure safety and sanitation at all times.

The role requires 10+ years in culinary management, a culinary degree preferred, and a current ServeSafe certification. You will manage food purchases, develop recipes, and support USDA donation efforts.

Qualifications

• Technical or vocational culinary education; culinary degree preferred.
• 10+ years of food industry or culinary management experience.
• Current manager-level ServeSafe certification.
• Ability to manage in a diverse environment and adapt regional foods for patients.
• Experience in menu planning, pricing, and food requisition.

Responsibilities

• Supervise hospital kitchen personnel and oversee all YKHC kitchens.
• Estimate food consumption and procure food to maximize purchasing leverage.
• Develop and standardize recipes for consistent quality.
• Plan, price, and present menus with safety and sanitation in mind.
• Prepare special meals for events and maintain USDA Donation Program partnerships.

We offer a broad range of employment opportunities and the chance to make a meaningful impact on the health of people in the region.**Position Summary:**The executive chef will train and manage all campus wide (Hospital, Long Term Care, Future Hostel, Behavioral Health Units) kitchen personnel and supervise/coordinate all related culinary activities; estimate food consumption, requisition and/or purchase food to maximize purchasing leverage; select and develop recipes; standardize production recipes to ensure consistent quality; establish presentation techniques and quality standards; plan and price menus; ensure proper equipment operation/maintenance; ensure proper safety and sanitation levels in kitchen areas. Prepare and cook special meals for select occasions and events. Maintain and continue to build partnerships for the USDA Donation Program. Receive, safely process and store donated foods for YKHC. **Position Qualifications:**Minimum Education: Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree. A culinary degree is preferred.Minimum Experience: 10 or more years of food industry and/or culinary management experience. You may substitute 1 additional year of experience for each year of education below the basic requirement above as long as you possess a high-school diploma or GED.License, Certification, Registration: Current manager level serve-safe certification.Equipment/Tools/Word-Aids: Knowledge in the use, handling and maintenance of food preparation utensils and equipment, kitchen small appliances and institutional size cooking appliancesSpecialized Knowledge and Skills: The ability to manage in a diverse environment with focus on patient and customer services is essential to success in this role.
