Job summary

City of Houston is seeking an accomplished Chief Financial Officer - Deputy Director (EXE LEV) for Houston Public Works. The role leads financial strategy, budgeting, debt management, and capital financing for a multibillion-dollar program, reporting to the HPW Director.

The successful candidate will provide executive leadership, manage enterprise funds, coordinate with City departments, and ensure robust financial governance and compliance in a complex municipal environment.

Qualifications

• Requires a four-year degree and more than ten years of progressively responsible professional work related to Public Works or municipal operations.
• At least four years in a management capacity.
• Possession of a valid driver's license and compliance with city policies.

Responsibilities

• Serve as principal financial advisor to the Director and member of the HPW executive leadership team.
• Direct budgeting, long-range financial planning, and capital financing.
• Oversee debt portfolio, enterprise funds, and grants; ensure GAAP compliance and financial reporting.
