Job summary

Defense Finance and Accounting Service seeks an experienced Executive Officer/Legal Advisor to the General Counsel in Indianapolis. This role supervises the Administrative Team, guides office policy, and ensures effective legal support across multiple practice areas.

The position requires a JD/LL.B. with bar membership and relevant government-law experience; security considerations apply. Telework is limited; relocation considerations may be offered as outlined in the agency notices.

Qualifications

• Requires the first professional law degree (LL.B. or J.D.) and active bar membership.
• Active legal practice experience in areas including contracts, employment, and government law.

Responsibilities

• Acts as Executive Officer/Legal Advisor to the General Counsel.
• Supervises Administrative Team and reviews staff performance.
• Develops office policies, plans, and metrics; manages budget for the OGC.
• Performs personnel duties for supervision and staffing.
• Provides expert legal advice across acquisition, bankruptcy, debt collection, contracts, admin and mil pay.
