Job summary

The City of New York, Office of Labor Relations, seeks an Executive Agency Counsel to join the litigation team. Reporting to the Managing Counsel, the EAC will work with a small group of legal and procurement professionals handling arbitration, mediation, and agency litigation matters.

The role involves advising on policy, risk, and strategy, drafting and negotiating agreements, and coordinating with the Law Department and client agencies.

Qualifications

• Admittance to the New York State Bar and four years of recent full-time responsible, relevant legal experience with supervisory work.

Responsibilities

• Representing the city in arbitration and other administrative proceedings, including labor relations matters.
• Develop and implement case strategies, and negotiate settlements.
• Draft legal documents, including pleadings, briefs, contracts and MOUs; review agency communications.
• Respond to FOIL requests and provide policy, risk and strategic advice to agency leadership.
