Job summary

AssetMark is seeking a senior, technically minded trading leader to own the EMS and trading connectivity platform. You will define strategy, governance, and evolution of the execution technology ecosystem to improve execution quality and reduce trading costs.

The role requires hybrid work near Phoenix or Charlotte, collaboration across multiple functions, and a focus on automated, resilient processes with strong controls.

Qualifications

8+ years of experience in trading technology, execution management, institutional trading, product ownership, or capital markets operations.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline.
CFA or similar industry certification preferred.
Experience with EMS, OMS, FIX connectivity, Best Execution, TCA, and workflow automation required.

Responsibilities

Own the business strategy, roadmap, configuration, and governance of the Execution Management System (EMS) and execution technology ecosystem.
Serve as business owner for EMS, OMS integrations, FIX connectivity, Smart Order Routing, algorithm management, RFQ platforms, broker connectivity, and allocation workflows.
Develop execution dashboards and KPIs covering implementation shortfall, arrival slippage, fill quality, broker performance, algorithm performance, operational KPIs, and trade completion rates to drive continuous improvement.
Configure and optimize routing logic, execution destinations, algorithms, and workflow parameters using execution analytics and transaction cost analysis.
Drive a highly automated, touchless operating environment by reducing manual intervention, implementing workflow automation, focused on AI-enabled monitoring, exception management, and preventive controls.
Collaborate across Trading, Portfolio Management, Engineering, Operations, Compliance, Risk, Data & Analytics, and Product Management to deliver enterprise outcomes.

Job Description:

The Job/What You’ll Do:

AssetMark is seeking a strategic, technically minded trading professional to serve as the business owner for our Execution Management and Trading Connectivity platform. This is a senior individual contributor role responsible for defining the strategy, governance, configuration, and continuous evolution of the firm’s execution technology ecosystem. The successful candidate will partner closely with cross-functional leaders to deliver a winning trading solution for clients across an array of venues to improve execution quality and drive down trading costs by building processes that are automated, resilient, and drive productivity.

We can only consider candidates for this position who are able to accommodate a hybrid work schedule and are close to our Charlotte, NC or Phoenix, AZ offices.

Responsibilities:

Own the business strategy, roadmap, configuration, and governance of the Execution Management System (EMS) and execution technology ecosystem.
Serve as business owner for EMS, OMS integrations, FIX connectivity, Smart Order Routing, algorithm management, RFQ platforms, broker connectivity, and allocation workflows.
Serve as a standing member of the Execution Committee, providing execution analytics, broker reviews, market structure insights, and recommendations to strengthen Best Execution governance.
Develop execution dashboards and KPIs covering implementation shortfall, arrival slippage, fill quality, broker performance, algorithm performance, operational KPIs, and trade completion rates to drive continuous improvement.
Configure and optimize routing logic, execution destinations, algorithms, and workflow parameters using execution analytics and transaction cost analysis.
Drive a highly automated, touchless operating environment by reducing manual intervention, implementing workflow automation, focused on AI-enabled monitoring, exception management, and preventive controls.
Design resilient operating processes with comprehensive documentation, standard operating procedures, knowledge transfer, and no single points of failure.
Manage strategic relationships with EMS, OMS, FIX, market data, RFQ, algorithm providers, brokers, and technology vendors; evaluate new capabilities and recommend platform enhancements.
Support workflow optimization, connectivity, exception management, and technology enhancements for all asset classes.
Collaborate exceptionally well across Trading, Portfolio Management, Engineering, Operations, Compliance, Risk, Data & Analytics, and Product Management to deliver enterprise outcomes.
Identify and implement innovations that improve execution quality, system stability, operational scalability, and competitive differentiation for AssetMark and Adhesion.
Ensure all processes are documented, sustainable, and well controlled in order to ensure resiliency and eliminate single points of failure.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Deep expertise in EMS/OMS architecture, FIX protocol, electronic trading, workflow automation, and execution analytics.
Experience with Best Execution governance, Transaction Cost Analysis (TCA), execution analytics, and market structure.
Strong understanding of equities, ETFs, ADRs, and fixed income trading workflows, including settlement processes.
Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and collaborate across business and technology organizations.
Proven ability to design highly automated operating models supported by strong controls, documentation, and audit readiness.
Strategically focused on measurable business outcomes, automation, resilience, and continuous improvement.

Education & Experience:

8+ years of experience in trading technology, execution management, institutional trading, product ownership, or capital markets operations.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline.

Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $110,000-$130,000. This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location. This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits.
