Darlington County School District's Bay Road Elementary seeks a Teacher Assistant in Exceptional Education for the 2026-2027 school year. This 190-day position supports classroom instruction and student supervision.

The role requires at least 60 college credits, an associate degree or higher, and WIN Level 3 and ParaPro credentials. The assistant will help with daily care and maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Minimum of sixty academic credit hours from an accredited institution of higher education.
• Associate degree (or higher).
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• WIN – copy of WIN Assessment minimum of Level 3 certification.
• ParaPro – copy of passing score (minimum 456) on ParaPro, the state approved academic assessment.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom teaching assistance.
• Provide supervision of students at all times.
• Maintain a positive classroom environment.
• Provide students with daily care (e.g. toileting, diapering, feeding) as needed.
• Adhere to district dress code policies.
• Maintain confidentiality in regard to students and school records.
• Positively support all facets of student growth and development.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of fifty pounds.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
