Job summary

Davidson Charter Academy in North Carolina is seeking an Exceptional Children’s (EC) Teacher to join our K–8 public charter school team. The EC Teacher will provide individualized instruction, support access to the curriculum, and collaborate with families to create a safe, nurturing learning environment.

Qualified candidates will hold a NC Exceptional Children license, a degree in Special Education, and experience supporting students with disabilities.

Qualifications

• Valid North Carolina teaching license in Exceptional Children.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education.
• Teaching experience working with students with disabilities.
• Knowledge of child development, differentiated instruction, and the IEP process.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a school team.
• Commitment to meeting the needs of a diverse student population.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver specially designed instruction aligned with students’ IEPs.
• Adapt lessons and provide accommodations and modifications to meet individual student needs.
• Assess student strengths and needs, develop measurable IEP goals, and monitor progress.
• Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with families and the IEP team.
• Maintain accurate records and complete required documentation within established timelines.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and service providers to support student learning.
• Build positive relationships with students and use effective classroom management and behavior support strategies.
• Communicate regularly with families about student progress and needs.
• Maintain student confidentiality and uphold professional and ethical standards.

The EC Teacher will provide individualized instruction, support access to the curriculum, and work closely with teachers and families to create a safe, nurturing learning environment.

Salary & Benefits

• Salary based on the NC Certified Teacher Salary Schedule, years of experience, and licensure status.
• Potential 3% local supplement.
• Employer 403(b) contribution match of up to 6%.
• 10 PTO days per year, with unused time rolling over until the maximum accrual is reached.
