Job summary

Martin Marietta is seeking an Excavator Operator to join our team in Homer, GA. The ideal candidate is safety conscious, dependable and motivated, with responsibilities including operating the excavator and performing daily equipment inspections.

Additional duties include greasing, shoveling and maintaining work areas, plus operating loaders and haul trucks as needed. Hours typically 6:00 am–6:00 pm with weekends and overtime as necessary.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience to perform the responsibilities associated with this position.
• Experience in the maintenance and operation of mobile equipment, construction equipment and/or equipment used processing plants.
• Experience in operation and maintenance of an excavator (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Operate the excavator safely and efficiently within company guidelines and safety standards.
• Complete daily pre- and post-inspection of working areas and ensure berms and roadways are adequate.
• Perform pre-shift safety inspections on equipment and report needed repairs.
• Ensure safe operations around conveyors, surge piles and crushers.
• Perform daily preventative maintenance (check tire pressure, oil, grease, diesel, hoses, and moving parts).
• Maintain safe traffic flow throughout the site.
• Operate other equipment such as loaders and haul trucks as needed.
• Aid in training of co-workers as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
