Qualifications

• Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with job site foremen, supervisor and fellow employees.
• Must be able to work eight to ten hours per day outdoors in all types of weather.
• Physical ability to stand, kneel, lift up to 60 pounds, pull, squat and walk.
• Maintains awareness of concurrent activities on the jobsite and vehicle/equipment operations.
• Willingness and ability to perform manual labor.

Responsibilities

• Learn and follow safety regulations.
• Take actions to avoid hazards or obstructions such as utilities or other workers.
• Operate machines such as bulldozers, trench excavators, road graders, or backhoes.
• Locate underground services prior to beginning work.
• Load and move dirt, rocks, or materials using heavy equipment.
• Coordinate machine actions with other activities and signals from crew members.
• Repair and maintain equipment and check fuel supplies.
• Operate loaders to perform site cleanup and miscellaneous tasks.
• Signal operators to guide movement of tractor-drawn machines.
• Keep records of material or equipment usage or problems encountered.
• Demonstrate ability to work outdoors and in varied weather conditions.
