Caton Construction Group, one of the Caton Companies, headquartered in Troy, VA, is growing! Currently seeking EXCAVATOR OPERATORS for our roadway project in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina (Cornelius). Experience with PIPE LAYING, TRENCH BOX, or UTILITIES is preferred.

The heavy equipment operator operates and maintains a variety of contractor equipment daily.

Responsibilities

• Assist in digging ditches and trenches, hoisting materials, tools, and equipment using backhoes, road graders, or front-end loaders.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment; report defects or repairs.
• Adhere to safety and security standards in all duties.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Position Type and Hours

Full-time, Monday - Friday, with potential for local or out-of-town work, including overnight stays. Long hours, weekend work, and overtime are expected.

Travel/Driving

Primarily local travel; some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required. Valid driver's license is necessary.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Four years of experience operating medium and heavy equipment, including two years related to pipe operations.
• Preferred: Valid CDL license.
