Job summary

Loyal Source Government Services seeks an Examiner to conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) Examinations for Veterans applying for VA disability benefits tied to in‑service injuries. You will review claims, perform focused assessments, review medical records, and render medical opinions based on records.

Charting from home may be required; Rocklin, CA location supports VA workflows. The role emphasizes ethics, HIPAA compliance, and collaboration with VA guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Valid and unrestricted Physician Assistant license in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, or any U.S. territory.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working as a Physician Assistant.
  • Previous experience conducting medical disability examinations or a related field is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support certification, renewals required.
  • Prior military experience or familiarity with the military or veteran communities is preferred.
  • Completion of specialized training or continuing education in Medical Disability Evaluations, occupational health, or related areas is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in comprehensive medical assessments, interpreting diagnostic tests, and formulating evidence-based medical opinions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive medical disability examinations: review medical history, perform physical examinations, and assess the impact of disabilities on daily life and functional abilities. 10% travel to other Loyal Source clinics may be required.
  • Review and analyze medical records, diagnostic test results, and other documentation to understand the Veteran’s health condition.
  • Render objective medical opinions based on examination findings and record review, regarding the extent of health issues and their impact on work and daily activities.
  • Use and navigate the case management system: organize workload, submit examination findings, and correspond with the Quality Assurance Team.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, specialists, and experts to obtain additional medical information as needed.
  • Document examination findings accurately in medical opinions and reports following VA guidelines and contractual obligations.
  • Partner with all Loyal Source departments to utilize resources for task completion and deadline management.
  • Manage time effectively, ensuring timely submission and confirmation of availability for all C&P exams.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards related to disability examinations.
  • Maintain compliance with all VA training requirements and remain updated on VA MDE program requirements.
  • Safeguard confidentiality of all patient information and results in accordance with privacy and security protocols.
  • All employees with patient data access must demonstrate HIPAA compliance through an annual assessment; failure may result in additional training, reassignment, or separation.

Job description

As an Examiner, you will conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) Examinations for Veterans applying for disability compensation from the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) in relation to their in‑service injury claims. The position involves reviewing claims, performing focused assessments of claimed injuries, reviewing medical records, and rendering a medical opinion based on the record review and completed C&P exam. Charting from home may be required. Each examiner plays a vital role in enhancing the Veteran’s experience.

These Medical Disability Examinations are crucial in the VA’s process for determining benefits Veterans can receive as a result of service‑connected health issues. Your clinical insights facilitate access to treatment subspecialists and promote continuity of care.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods standing and sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Must have full range of motion to conduct physical examinations safely.

Travel Requirements

10% travel to support other clinics; additional travel for required training or company events.

Schedule Requirements

Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm.

Pay

Base + Monthly Incentive: $149,572–$179,572 per year.
