Job summary

Oracle is seeking a Principal Site Reliability Engineer to operate and enhance the Exadata Cloud Service within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. You will lead, mentor, and define engineering standards while collaborating across product and architecture teams to ensure reliability and performance for mission-critical workloads.

In this role you will design and implement automation, improve observability, and drive incident response effectiveness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a technical field.
• 8+ years of experience in software/systems engineering, SRE, or related discipline.
• Advanced programming/scripting in Python, Shell, or Perl.
• Design, develop, troubleshoot, and maintain production-quality software and automation.
• Strong Linux systems engineering background and OS concepts.
• Experience with virtualized or containerized systems (KVM, Oracle VM, Docker).
• Ability to read, analyze, and troubleshoot multiple components and layers of software.
• Experience diagnosing complex software, DB, OS, storage, and networking issues.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deliver software and automation to improve DBaaS service availability, scalability, and security.
• Lead investigation and resolution of complex operational issues across Exadata Cloud Service and related platforms.
• Coordinate high-severity incident response, diagnostics, mitigation, and post-incident reviews.
• Build automation to reduce repetitive tasks and improve incident response.
• Apply AI-assisted engineering to improve anomaly detection, troubleshooting, and capacity forecasting.
• Develop monitoring, observability, alerts, dashboards, and operational health metrics.
