Job summary

Oracle is seeking a Principal Site Reliability Engineer to operate and improve Exadata Cloud Service within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. You will collaborate across software, database, and operations teams to enhance reliability and performance for mission-critical workloads.

You will mentor engineers, lead cross-functional reliability initiatives, and help define standards for observability, automation, and incident response in a highly distributed cloud environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a technical field.
• Typically 8+ years of experience in software/SRE/cloud/ops roles.
• Advanced programming/scripting in Python, Shell, or Perl.
• Design, develop, troubleshoot, and maintain production-quality software and automation.
• Strong Linux systems engineering background and OS concepts.
• Experience with virtualized/containerized systems (KVM, Oracle VM, Docker).
• Ability to read, analyze, and troubleshoot multi-component codebases.
• Strong understanding of distributed cloud systems, HA, and multi-tenant platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deliver software and automation to improve DBaaS availability, scalability, latency, security, and operability.
• Lead investigation and resolution of complex technical issues across Exadata Cloud Service and related components.
• Coordinate high-severity incident response, diagnosis, mitigation, and post-incident reviews.
• Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive solutions.
• Build automation to reduce manual work and improve fleet management.
• Apply AI-assisted engineering to improve anomaly detection, troubleshooting, and capacity forecasting.
• Develop tools using telemetry data to identify patterns and provide actionable insights.
• Define and improve SLIs/SLAs, alerts, dashboards, and health metrics.
• Mentor engineers; establish engineering standards and reliability principles.
