Job summary

Netsmart is seeking an early-career Software Engineer to join the EVV team, building Java-based integration solutions that connect healthcare platforms and data systems. You will contribute across the full SDLC and collaborate with teammates to deliver reliable software that moves critical healthcare information securely.

You will design APIs, troubleshoot data flows, and participate in Agile ceremonies while growing expertise in interoperability, cloud-based architectures, and healthcare

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS, or related field.
• Experience with Java through work, internships, co-ops, or projects.
• Understanding of OOP and software development fundamentals.
• Knowledge of relational databases, data modeling, and SQL.
• Familiarity with APIs, system integrations, or data exchange concepts.
• Understanding of cloud-based or SaaS architectures.
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly and apply them.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to deliver high-quality work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the full software development lifecycle from requirements to deployment and support.
• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based integration solutions enabling communication between healthcare platforms.
• Build and enhance APIs, services, and data exchange workflows for EVV and interoperability initiatives.
• Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve integration, data, and application issues through root cause analysis and debugging.
• Develop and execute automated and manual tests to ensure software quality, reliability, and performance.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, code reviews, and technical design discussions.
• Build knowledge of clinical, operational, and financial healthcare workflows to create impactful software solutions.
• Continuously explore new technologies and engineering practices to improve development efficiency.
