Job summary

Mount Carmel is seeking an Environmental Services Technician to maintain a sanitary and safe hospital environment in Dublin, OH. You will perform daily cleaning of patient rooms, trash removal, linen changes, and surface sanitization, while supporting department standards and patient comfort.

Role requires good communication, basic math, and knowledge of chemical handling; formal education is a high school diploma or GED. The position is on-site with opportunities for growth and benefits.

Responsibilities

• Exhibits Mount Carmel Service Excellence Behavior Standards and professional conduct.
• Cleans patient rooms and assigned areas daily; collects/removes trash, changes bed linens, sanitizes surfaces.
• Stocks paper items and supplies in patient rooms as needed.
• Moves furniture for repair/cleaning and sets up meeting rooms.
• Assists in cleaning emergency spills/floods promptly.
• Proactively communicates with staff in an accurate and timely manner.
• All other duties as assigned.

About the job:

In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors, the Technician – Environmental Services creates a sanitary, safe environment and enhances the appearance of the Facility.

What you will do:

• Exhibits each of the Mount Carmel Service Excellence Behavior Standards, holding self and others accountable and role‑modeling excellence for all to see. For example: demonstrates friendliness and courtesy, effective communication creates a professional environment and provides first‑class service.
• Cleans patient rooms and other assigned areas daily, including collecting and removing trash, changing bed linens, and sanitizing all surfaces.
• Stocks paper items and other supplies in patient rooms as necessary or designated.
• Moves furniture for repair or cleaning and sets up meeting rooms.
• Assists in cleaning of emergency spills/floods that are observed or requested.
• Proactively communicates with all staff members in an accurate & timely manner.
• All other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for:

• Education: High School Graduate or GED preferred.
• Ability to clearly and respectfully communicate with patients, visitors, and all colleagues and be able to verbalize approved scripting with all the above.
• Reading, basic math and writing skills required.
• Knowledge of the correct use of chemicals, dilution of chemicals, supplies, tools and equipment. When applicable, must also know proper use and procedures to operate the steam sterilizer, grinding/shredding system, waste compactor, recycling compactor and cardboard balers.
