Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking a Housekeeping Aid/Environmental Services Technician at a VA Medical Center.

The role performs a full range of light and heavy cleaning duties with minimal supervision to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for Veterans, visitors, and staff. Responsibilities include cleaning patient rooms and other areas, handling waste per safety procedures, and following infection control protocols.

Qualifications

• Evidence of training or experience sufficient to perform janitorial duties must be provided in the resume.
• Qualifications will be evaluated per the OPM Federal Wage System standards.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize patient rooms, wards, offices, corridors, restrooms, showers, and other assigned areas.
• Sweep, mop, scrub (machine), polish floors, and vacuum carpets and upholstered furniture.
• Remove trash and waste, including regulated medical waste, per safety procedures.
• Respond promptly to spills and maintain safe, hazard-free environments; clean walls, windows, ceilings, fixtures, and blinds.
• Move furniture and equipment; use ladders and cleaning equipment safely; follow infection control and environmental safety protocols.
