Job summary

Butler Hospital, a member of Care New England, is seeking a part-time Environmental Services Technician to clean and service assigned areas to a sanitary, orderly standard. You will maintain cleaning supplies, operate cleaning equipment, and assist with waste disposal and linen handling in a hospital setting.

The role requires a High School diploma (preferred) and a valid driver's license, with training provided on the job.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintains a cleaning cart in an orderly condition and fully stocks supplies.
• Removes waste including confidential paper, recyclables and hazardous material.
• Disposes of hazardous waste following proper procedures.
• Cleans and disinfects restrooms completely.
• Replenishes soap, toilet paper, hand sanitizer and towels.
• Disinfects assigned offices, corridors, patient rooms and beds as needed.
• Operates heavy cleaning equipment (wet vacuums, buffers, floor machines, etc.).
• Sweeps, mops, vacuums, and cleans floors daily.
• Moves furniture and assists with conference setups.
• Transports soiled linens to laundry and returns clean linen.
• Turns and changes mattresses and cleans waste containers.
• Completes work orders and reports maintenance issues.

Job description

The Environmental Services Technician cleans and services an assigned area of the Hospital in a sanitary, orderly, and attractive condition. Adheres to Butler Hospital Service Standards.

Union, Part time 20 hours a week Flex Hours between 7:30am to 4pm weekend and holiday as needed.

I. Responsibilities:

• Maintains a cleaning cart in an orderly condition, keeping the cart fully stocked with required cleaning supplies.
• Responsible for removal of all waste including: regular rubbish, cardboard, recycle confidential paper, hazardous material.
• Follow proper procedures concerning hazardous waste disposal and handling.
• Cleaning and disinfecting of restrooms completely.
• Replenishes all supplies: soap, toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and paper towels.
• Daily disinfecting of (all assigned areas) offices, corridors, elevators, stairwells, patient rooms and cleaning/making beds that are vacant due to patient discharge or transfer.
• Performs project work such as wall washing, window washing, curtain changing with use of ladder, cleaning of waste containers, floor buffing, refinishing floors, floor scrubbing, carpet cleaning.
• Operation of heavy duty electrical equipment: wet vacuums, extractors, buffers, floor machines, auto scrubbers, upholstery machines, pressure washers, vacuums, steamers
• Sweeps, mops, wet-washes, and vacuums floors.
• Moves furniture and completes conference room setups.
• Collects soiled linens and transports to laundry; returns clean linen to proper linen closets.
• Turns and changes mattresses and completes bed moves
• Disinfects areas by scrubbing or wiping.
• Completes assigned work orders.
• Operates hospital dump truck to move supplies, furniture , or transport waste to the compactors.
• Reports any mechanical failures and negative conditions.

Performs other duties as required.

Demonstrates competence and compassion in day-to-day interactions with patients, family members, or friends that may be present, either as patients or visitors at Butler Hospital.

Reports to: EVS Manager or Supervisor(s)

Other Relationship: Patients, Family members, all other hospital staff and employees

III. Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma preferred

Must have a valid driver's license.

Training and Experience: Ability to follow oral and written instructions. On the job training is provided.
