Job summary

ephraimmcdowell Environmental Services is seeking a dedicated Environmental Services Technician to perform housekeeping across a medical center, including restrooms, waiting areas, offices and clinical spaces.

The role requires operating vacuum cleaners and upholstery equipment, handling chemicals safely, and supporting the organization’s mission with dependable, quality cleaning and adherence to patient-family centered care principles.

Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

Performs a wide range of housekeeping tasks and projects including the cleaning of restrooms, waiting areas, offices, and clinical areas. The areas that are to be cleaned also are not limited to medicine prep rooms that requires daily cleaning as well. Operation of equipment such as vacuum cleaners, upholstery shampooers, and others is required. Also, other housekeeping duties may be required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Completes assigned work load by the end of each shift.
2. Operates and maintains departmental equipment in a safe, orderly, and efficient manner.
3. Completes special projects throughout the Organization as assigned by the supervisor.
4. The Environmental Services Technician may gain access to the medication/nourishment room by an authorized Associate for routine cleaning.
5. Assists with the efficient operation of the department and Organization.
6. Demonstrates a commitment to professional accountability and growth to maintain and expand knowledge and skills.
7. Contributes to the achievement of the mission and philosophy of the Organization.
8. Contributes to the effective operations of the Organization by demonstrating dependability in job performance.

WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Works in a typical Medical Center environment subject to the hazards associated with such a facility. A flexible working schedule is required including overtime and weekend assignments. Must be able to move or position 50 lbs. independently. Extensive and constant amounts of physical effort required and operation of heavy machinery associated with waste removal and compacting. Vision must be good or prescribed glasses worn. Preference for routine, organized activities performed according to predetermined Organization policies. High tolerance for pressure and stress due to task interruption as well as task overload. High tolerance for change. Duties require outside transferring trash to dumpster in inclement weather conditions.

CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:

Will contact and interact with nurses, doctors, visitors, patients and all other staff on a routine basis.

EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

Must be knowledgeable in the use of all chemicals and all equipment. May need to carry beeper and answer pages.
