Job summary

ephraimmcdowell in Danville, KY seeks a hospital housekeeping technician to clean and disinfect patient rooms, restrooms and clinical areas. You will remove trash and bio-hazardous waste, stock supplies, and ensure a safe, clean environment for patients and staff.

JOB SUMMARY:

This position performs a wide range of housekeeping tasks and projects including, but not limited to, the cleaning and disinfecting of patient rooms, restrooms, waiting areas, offices, and clinical areas; responsible for the removal of regular trash and bio-hazardous waste; operation of equipment such as brooms, mops, vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers and upholstery shampooers; stocks assigned areas with paper towels, hand soap, hand sanitizer, toilet paper and other supplies; provides assistance to ensure a safe, clean environment for our customers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Effectively cleans and disinfects assigned area using established protocol and procedures.
2. Performs all cleaning tasks in an efficient manner.
3. Safely utilizes correct chemicals for each task in the performance of assigned duties.
4. Restocks assigned areas with paper towels, soap, sanitizers, toilet paper, etc. as necessary.
5. Follows established procedures for the removal of bio-hazardous waste and regular trash.
6. Adheres to all universal precautions and isolation procedures.
7. Contributes to the achievement of the mission and philosophy of the Organization.
8. Contributes to the effective operations of the Organization by demonstrating dependability and cooperation in job performance.

WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Works in a typical patient care setting surrounded by healthcare professionals, hospital equipment, patients and their families. A flexible working schedule is required including overtime and weekend assignments. Must be able to move or position 50 lbs. independently. Extensive and constant amounts of physical effort required including moving around the units, moving heavy objects, operation of heavy machinery associated with waste removal and compacting. Vision must be good or prescribed glasses worn. High tolerance for pressure and stress due to task interruption as well as task overload. High tolerance for change. Duties require outside transferring trash to dumpster in inclement weather conditions.

CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:

Will contact and interact with nurses, doctors, visitors, patients and all other staff on a routine basis.

EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

Must be knowledgeable in the use of all chemicals and all equipment. May need to carry beeper and answer pages.
