Job summary

Harlingen Medical Center is seeking an Environmental Services Associate to join our night shift team in Harlingen, TX. This part-time role involves cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, operating rooms, and common areas to prevent infections and maintain a safe hospital environment.

You will handle waste disposal, stock supplies, and operate cleaning equipment, traveling between facilities as needed. Strong reading and communication skills are required; a HS diploma is preferred.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of knowledge within acute care hospital environmental service techniques, practices and procedures preferred.
• Must be able to read, understand and communicate effectively.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Properly disposing of medical and hazardous waste according to hospital protocols
• Restock supplies like gloves, masks, and cleaning materials in various hospital areas
• Clean and maintain floors, restrooms, and other surfaces using specialized equipment and chemicals
• Respond to urgent cleaning needs such as spills or contamination incidents and communicate promptly using phone, handheld radios, pagers, and other devices
• Maintain a high level of cleanliness within the hospital and adjacent buildings, which may require traveling between facilities independently
