CHI St. Alexius Health in North Dakota is seeking an Environmental Services Technician to keep hospital areas clean and sanitized to prevent the spread of infections and hazards.

You will use specialized equipment and follow proper waste disposal procedures while delivering care with social justice and health equity in mind. Responsibilities include routine cleaning, sanitizing patient care areas, restocking supplies, and handling medical waste disposal.

Qualifications

  • Must understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to measure chemicals accurately.
  • Ability to operate riding equipment where applicable.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in cleaning and disinfecting patient care areas is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine cleaning and decluttering of hospital areas, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, and trash disposal.
  • Sanitize patient rooms, emergency rooms, operating rooms, and common areas using approved tools and procedures.
  • Restock supplies in supply areas, patient rooms and other areas as needed.
  • Learn and follow proper disposal methods for medical waste and biohazard materials.
  • Maintain a courteous and compassionate demeanor with patients, visitors, and staff.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Environmental Services Technician, you will help keep all areas of the hospital clean and sanitized to protect individuals from potential infectious diseases or other hazards. Every day you will use specialized equipment and techniques to further sanitize the facility. You will be expected to adhere to proper disposal techniques for biohazard materials. To be successful in this role, you must be committed to social justice, health equity and prepared to deliver care in new and innovative ways.

  • Provide routine cleaning and decluttering to appropriate areas of the hospital - dusting, sweeping, mopping, and disposing of trash
  • Sanitize appropriate areas of the hospital using approved tools and routines which may vary by location. Patient rooms, emergency rooms, and operating rooms will all have their own procedures and vary from the hallways, nurses’ stations, waiting areas, and restrooms. Use proper chemicals, procedures, and equipment to clean and disinfect surfaces thoroughly
  • Restock supplies as needed in supply areas, common areas, and patient rooms. This may include soap, paper towels, bath tissue, facial tissue, bath linens, bed linens and your own cleaning supplies in supply closets
  • Learn and follow proper techniques for disposal of all medical waste, including biological or biohazard waste such as bodily fluids or sharp implements
  • Remain patient, kind and personable in all interactions with patients, visitors and staff

$15.00 - $20.12 /hour
