Job Title: EVS Shift SupervisorLocation: Travis Air Force Base, CaliforniaJob Type: Full-TimeSchedule: 2nd ShiftFLSA Status: ExemptReports To: EVS Manager / Assistant EVS ManagerGeneral Summary:The Environmental Services (EVS) Shift Supervisor serves as the designated Shift Leader and is responsible for overseeing daily EVS operations during assigned shifts, assisting the EVS Manager/Assistant Manager in administering the Environmental Services program and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout all areas of the facility. This position acts as the contractor's representative in the absence of the EVS Manager and Assistant EVS Manager, ensuring all contractual requirements, regulatory standards, and customer service expectations are consistently met.The EVS Shift Supervisor provides leadership, direction, and training to EVS personnel while coordinating environmental services activities with clinical and support staff to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming healthcare environment.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Supervise and direct daily operations of assigned EVS staff.Serve as the primary point of contact during assigned shifts in the absence of EVS leadership.Manage employee work schedules with assistance from the Assistant Director/Manager, ensuring adequate staffing coverage on a daily basis.Interpret, implement, and enforce contractual requirements, policies, and procedures.Coordinate environmental services activities with medical staff, clinic leadership, and support departments.Monitor employee performance, productivity, and compliance with established cleaning standards.Assign daily work schedules and ensure completion of assigned duties.Conduct quality control/quality assurance inspections on a daily basis for assigned employees and verify cleanliness standards are maintained; review results with QC and leadership to analyze trends and identify opportunities for improvement.Analyze government QA inspections, ensuring proper follow-up and corrective/preventive actions.Ensure assigned employees receive adequate orientation and training, with documentation maintained on file.Observe employees daily to identify potential issues and resolve them proactively.Perform job evaluations on employees and submit to the Assistant Director/Manager as required.Perform public relations rounds on units and establish relationships with key facility personnel.Ensure all housekeeping/EVS personnel have the supplies needed to perform their jobs.Respond promptly to customer concerns, complaints, emergency cleaning requests, spills, and other EVS-related incidents.Investigate and resolve operational issues while maintaining a high level of customer service.Train, mentor, and coach EVS staff on cleaning procedures, safety protocols, infection prevention practices, and customer service expectations.Ensure compliance with OSHA, DHA, CDC, Joint Commission, and facility-specific regulations.Maintain staffing coverage and coordinate resources to support operational needs.Complete required reports, documentation, and performance records accurately and in a timely manner.Participate in meetings and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives.Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director/Manager.Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements:EducationHigh School Diploma or GED required.Associate degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Environmental Services, or related field preferred.ExperienceMinimum 3 years of Environmental Services experience in a healthcare environment, including quality control experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to understand the technical and process-based aspects of the services provided.Minimum 1 year of experience within the last three years in hospital housekeeping/EVS services, or equivalent, meeting or exceeding comparable industry certification (IEHA, etc.), training, and experience requirements in a tertiary-level medical care facility with at least 100–200 bed capacity.Minimum 1 year of supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.Experience working in hospitals, medical centers, military treatment facilities, or healthcare settings is strongly preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesStrong leadership and team management skills.Ability to effectively supervise, train, and develop staff.Knowledge of healthcare environmental cleaning practices and infection prevention standards.Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and contractual requirements.Strong written and oral communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.Excellent customer service and conflict-resolution abilities.Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic reporting systems.Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.Preferred Qualifications:Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) certification.Experience with healthcare quality assurance programs.Experience managing staff schedules and labor resources.Familiarity with military healthcare facilities and DHA standards.Work Environment:Be able to walk for extended periods of time, bend, kneel, push, pull, and stretch as required.Be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.Ability to work around cleaning chemicals and equipment.Ability to respond to emergencies and perform required physical tasks throughout the shift.Key Competencies:Leadership & AccountabilityTeam DevelopmentCustomer Service ExcellenceQuality AssuranceOperational ManagementCommunication SkillsProblem SolvingInfection Prevention AwarenessRegulatory ComplianceEmergency Response CoordinationWhy Join Our Team?Opportunity to support patient care by ensuring a clean, safe healthcare environment.Leadership role with meaningful impact on daily hospital operations.Professional development and growth opportunities.Collaborative healthcare team environment.Pre-Employment Requirements:Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
