Job summary

Empire Care Centers is seeking an Environmental Services Director to oversee the planning, organization, development, and direction of the Housekeeping Unit in accordance with federal, state, and local guidelines to ensure the highest quality resident care.

The role focuses on directing housekeeping staff, maintaining cleanliness and safety, managing supplies and budgets, and coordinating with related units to ensure smooth operations at the nursing home facility.

Responsibilities

• Directs Housekeeping Unit staff and a commercial laundry account to fulfill unit project assignments on budget, on schedule, and to quality standards.
• Maintains a high level of cleanliness and safety throughout the nursing home facility.
• Preserves the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and the appearance of Housekeeping areas, and performs regular inspections of resident areas and rooms for sanitation, order, safety, and proper performance of assigned duties.
• Performs regular inspections of resident, ancillary, and common areas for sanitation, order, safety, and a comfortable environment.
• Assures that Housekeeping staff follow established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies at all times.
• Inspects storage rooms, utility and janitorial closets, etc., for upkeep and supply control.
• Requisitions all Housekeeping supplies and equipment and maintains adequate inventory levels to provide a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.
• Recommends to the Director of Facilities Management budgetary amounts to meet the equipment and supply needs of the unit.
• Communicates with other unit supervisors to adequately plan for Housekeeping services and activities.
• Coordinates Housekeeping/Laundry services and activities with other related units.
• Coordinates and monitors resident moves and responds to resident requests promptly and according to policies.
• Coordinates repair needs with Physical Plant Services.
• Prepares and plans the Housekeeping Unit's budget and submits it to the Director, Facilities Management, for review and approval.
• Performs other job duties and projects as directed.
