The Director of Environmental Services position is responsible for the planning, organization, development, and direction of the overall operation of the Housekeeping Unit in accordance with federal, state, and local standards and guidelines, and as may be directed by the Director, Facilities Management, to ensure that the highest degree of quality resident care is maintained at all times.

Directs Housekeeping Unit staff and a commercial laundry account to fulfill unit project assignments on budget, on schedule, and to quality standards.
Maintains a high level of cleanliness and safety throughout the nursing home facility.
Preserves the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and the appearance of Housekeeping areas, and performs regular inspections of resident areas and rooms for sanitation, order, safety, and proper performance of assigned duties.
Performs regular inspections of resident, ancillary, and common areas for sanitation, order, safety, and a comfortable environment.
Assures that Housekeeping staff follow established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies at all times.
Inspects storage rooms, utility and janitorial closets, etc., for upkeep and supply control.
Requisitions all Housekeeping supplies and equipment and maintains adequate inventory levels to provide a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.
Recommends to the Director of Facilities Management budgetary amounts to meet the equipment and supply needs of the unit.
Communicates with other unit supervisors to adequately plan for Housekeeping services and activities.
Coordinates Housekeeping/Laundry services and activities with other related units.
Coordinates and monitors resident moves and responds to resident requests promptly and according to policies.
Coordinates repair needs with Physical Plant Services.
Prepares and plans the Housekeeping Unit's budget and submits it to the Director, Facilities Management, for review and approval.
Performs other job duties and projects as directed.
This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.
