Job summary

Prince William County Government is seeking a Public Safety Specialist - Criminal Evidence Section to support a busy Police Force. Responsibilities include intake, secure storage, release, submission to state lab, and lawful disposal of evidence with strict chain-of-custody controls.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 1 year of related experience in law enforcement, public safety, or records management.
• Associate’s degree or higher in Criminal Justice, Public Safety, Forensics or related field preferred.
• Experience with filing, inventory and evidence management software; strong written and oral communication.

Responsibilities

• Intake, secure storage, release, and submission of property and evidence.
• Maintain chain-of-custody documentation for legal proceedings.
• Assist with audits, inventories, and interagency coordination.
• Interact with the public and law enforcement while ensuring confidentiality and security.
