Job summary

City of Sunrise is seeking an orderly and detail‑oriented evidence/Property Room Clerk to manage custody and safekeeping of items for the Police Department. You will label, store, and transport evidence, maintain records, and assist in releases to owners and in court proceedings.

The role requires high school completion, inventory control experience, and the ability to work in a field environment. A valid driver’s license is required prior to hire and prior law enforcement knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or GED equivalent.
• Reasonable work experience in inventory control including receiving/issuing, reconciliation, and storage.
• Prior law enforcement knowledge and/or experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Safekeep all money, property, and valuables inEvidence/Property room.
• Record articles received with descriptions, ownership, and purpose.
• Label, store, and dispose found property and evidence per procedures.
• Maintain integrity of evidence and property, provide receipts, and testify as needed.
• Release evidence to owners or officers for court with proper documentation.
