Job summary

JW Affinity IT seeks an experienced Software Developer to design, enhance, integrate, and support applications used by a local municipality. This role will modernize digital services, automate internal processes, and improve reliability for employees, residents, and municipal operations.

The ideal candidate combines strong development experience with the ability to translate business requirements into secure, maintainable solutions across legacy and modern technologies in a public-sector

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of professional software development experience.
• Experience with relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL).
• Knowledge of SQL, data modeling, authentication, authorization, error handling, and logging.
• Experience with Git or other source-control platforms.
• Understanding of SDLC, testing, deployment, and change management.
• Ability to communicate with nontechnical stakeholders and translate operational needs into technical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance web-based and enterprise applications.

Required Qualifications

• Experience working with relationaldatabases such as Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL.

• Experience with Git or anothersource-control platform.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing or supportingapplications for municipal government, public-sectororganizations, utilities, public safety, permitting, finance,asset management, or citizen services.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, AzureDevOps, Power Platform, Microsoft 365, or comparable cloud andlow-code technologies.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automatedtesting, containerization, or DevOps practices.
• Experience integrating commercialoff-the-shelf applications and software-as-a-service platforms.
• Familiarity with accessibilityrequirements, including WCAG and Section 508 principles.
• Understanding of securesoftware-development practices and frameworks such as the OWASPTop 10.
