Job summary

A vibrant senior living community in Chula Vista seeks an Events & Programs Specialist to plan and coordinate creative events for residents and families. The ideal candidate should have excellent listening and organizational skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office. Responsibilities include engaging residents in event planning, coordinating materials and volunteers, and maintaining participation records. Qualifications

  • Must be able to communicate in the English language.
  • Prior experience in social or recreational programming in a senior living setting preferred.
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain Therapeutic Recreational Specialist certification.

  • Coordinate equipment, materials, and volunteers for event success.

You, our Ideal Candidate

The Events & Programs Specialist must be creative and have excellent listening skills. The Specialist is responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating events and programming for residents and family members. This position creates an environment of wellness and engagement throughout the organization. The Events & Programs Specialist collaborates with other departments as well as the community at large to provide programming.

Responsibilities

  • Engage residents in planning creative community events and programs of interest to residents and families
  • Coordinates equipment, materials and volunteers to ensure event success.
  • Prepares activity assessments for each residents, if required by regulations.
  • Obtains and lead volunteers for events
  • Completes participation records and quarterly progress notes
  • Available to occasionally work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as events dictate

Requirements

  • Must be able to communicate in the English language
  • High School diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Prior experience in social or recreational programming in a senior living setting preferred.
  • Posses or have the ability to obtain, within designated timeframe, certification of Therapeutic Recreational Specialist, if working in long term care
  • Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, knowledge of USI software preferred
  • Demonstrated creativity
