Belmont Abbey College seeks an Events Manager for College Relations to oversee event planning and execution. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and experience in event planning, demonstrating strong organizational and communication skills. Position Summary
Belmont Abbey College invites applications for the current position of Events Manager for College Relations.
Job Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving, the Events Manager for the Office of College Relations is an integral member of the team who uses his/her knowledge and skills to advantage the strategic goals of the department through event planning creative thinking and an entrepreneurial spirit. The Events Manager works closely with clients and team members to design and produce successful events for constituent groups and alumni. As part of a small but mighty team, the events manager may be called on to help in team projects including mailings, organizational tasks, and other items as they arise. This position will report to the Director of Annual Giving in the Office of College Relations.
Qualifications
The successful candidate takes ownership of events and enjoys the busy rush and organized chaos that can occur around events. He or she must be able to pivot quickly, creatively, and cheerfully when plans change or when something doesn’t work out as planned. Foreseeing and preventing problems, mitigating the stress load of colleagues and volunteers at events, detailed planning and communication is essential to this role along with the ability for robust physical activity including frequent lifting, walking, and bending. The incumbent must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times and present a positive attitude and hospitable demeanor reflecting the mission of Belmont Abbey College. The candidate must be self-motivated, organized, and able to pay attention to details, stepping up to take care of issues as they arise. A team player who is observant and always eager to help where needed or step up and lead where appropriate will thrive in this position.
The ideal candidate must have a bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in event planning, OR a combination of education, experience, and training. Cover Letter Required for Consideration. Successful candidates will possess strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills and possess the ability to communicate sensitive information/feedback with tact and professionalism. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills with a commitment to excellent customer service, and the ability to work collaboratively and navigate a complex work environment. Prior experience in event design, planning/management, advancement, fundraising, alumni engagement, non-profit, or a university setting. Possess a high level of professionalism and commitment to confidentiality with sound judgment and discretion. Flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and deadlines. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office at Belmont Abbey College.
