Job summary

Eataly in Los Angeles is seeking an Events & Education Specialist to engage guests through events and educational programs. Reports to the Events & Education Manager and coordinates public and private events, tastings, and classes with the Chef and La Scuola team.

The role requires on-site availability, evening/weekend hours, and strong organizational and communication skills to create memorable experiences for guests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Excellent organizational, project management and time management skills.
• Outstanding professional communication and editorial skills.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of Italian wine and food gastronomy.
• Proficiency in Italian language preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans, schedules and executes public and private events, classes, tastings and receptions.
• Support the Chef during scheduled classes and events by anticipating needs.
• Set up dining area with floorplan, silverware, glassware and marketing materials.
• Prepare La Scuola workstations with ingredients and equipment for events.
• Serve meals and beverages, noting dietary accommodations and courses.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen area and manage closing duties.
• Write and monitor class descriptions, bios, BEOs and sales contracts online.
• Builds and manages client lists and relationships.

Job Description

The Events & Education Specialist is a food enthusiast who passionately engages guests in Eataly's mission through events and educational offerings. Reports to the Events & Education Manager.

• Plans, schedules and executes public and private events including specialized cooking/wine/food knowledge classes, buyouts, press events, tastings and private receptions
• Support the Chef during scheduled classes and events by anticipating their needs and that of the La Scuola guests.
• Setup dining area with theproper floorplan, silverware, glassware, and marketing materials based on event format.
• Prepare La Scuola workstations with all ingredients and necessary equipment for the class or event for each guest.
• Serve meal prepared by Chef during events to each guest accurately noting any dietary accommodations and courses during events, along with pouring beverages.
• Clean and sanitize the kitchen area in coordination with Chef to prepare for the next phase of the event, including removing all dirty materials including but not limited to dishes, glassware, silverware, tableware pots, pans and other cooking utensils during classes and events.
• Execute side work and closing duties including polishing silverware/glassware, restocking of beverages, aprons, napkins, and anything else needed in La Scuola.
• Help with storage organization and other projects or duties, as needed.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned + additional kitchen duties include preparing and setup of food stations for events.
• Writes and monitors class descriptions; compiles instructor biographies, Banquet Event Orders (BEO's) and sales contracts; creates class registration pages online
• Fosters accountability in departments and interdepartmental collaboration when planning events
• Builds and manages client lists and relationships
• Performs other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Experience in restaurant operations, sales management, marketing or event planning
• Excellent organizational, project management and time management skills
• Outstanding professional communication skills and editorial skills
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of Italian wine and food gastronomy
• Proficiency in Italian language preferred

• Availability to work onsite with a flexible schedule often including evenings, weekends and holidays

Compensation: Pay range is set from $22 - $25 an hour
