Job summary

The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) in Washington, DC, seeks an Events Coordinator to support the Events Operations team with logistics for in-person, virtual, and hybrid events.   • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Outstanding customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Zoom.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, late evenings, and during inclement weather.
  • Ability to lift equipment and furniture up to 25lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and external partners to coordinate event logistics, room setups, catering, AV, and other needs.
  • Support day-of logistics for in-person, virtual, and hybrid events by serving as a Zoom host/operator.
  • Process, review, and track invoices from external event vendors.
  • Provide administrative support to the Events Management team on a variety of projects and challenges.
  • Maintain courteous, positive, professional, and cooperative interactions with staff, vendors and guests.
  • Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned or required.

Job description

Position Summary

The Council on Foreign Relations’ DC office, located just one block from the White House, is home to a state-of-the-art conference center and hosts several hundred internal and external meetings each year.

The Events Coordinator will provide logistical and administrative support to the Events Operations team. The position is responsible for coordinating operational details and supporting onsite event execution for both internal and external events at the Council.

This full-time position is based in CFR’s Washington, DC office at least four days per week. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays are considered institutional anchor days where all staff are required to be onsite. CFR’s remote working schedule is subject to change.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and assist team with event logistics for in-person, virtual, and hybrid events hosted by CFR and external rental clients.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and external partners to coordinate event logistics, including room setups, catering arrangements, audiovisual requirements, and other operational needs to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Support in-person, virtual, and hybrid events by managing day-of logistics, including serving as a Zoom host/operator.
  • Process, review, and track invoices from external event vendors.
  • Provide administrative support to the Events Management team on a variety of new and existing projects and challenges that come up including event scheduling, catering, and client relations.
  • Provide and uphold a courteous, positive, professional and cooperative attitude with the staff, vendors, and guests.
  • Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, business, communications or marketing, preferred.

Experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in events, hospitality, or a related field.

Compensation and Benefits
  • The full-time annual compensation range for this position is $63,000 – $67,000, depending on experience.
