Job summary

Brigham Young University (BYU) is seeking an Events and Student Experience Manager for the Ballard Center for Social Impact. This 75% time, 28 hours per week role coordinates student events, supervises student staff, and guides students toward the Global and Community Impact minor and other Ballard Center initiatives.

You will collaborate with faculty, staff, and campus partners to deliver welcoming experiences and use feedback to strengthen engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with two years of relevant experience in event management, student services, project management, or related area.
• Experience planning and coordinating events or projects with multiple timelines, stakeholders, budgets, and details.
• Experience supervising, training, coaching, or mentoring employees, students, or volunteers.
• Strong organizational, communication, project management, and problem-solving skills with sound judgment and discretion.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, university leaders, guests, and community partners.

Responsibilities

• Oversee peer advisement and student pathways connecting students with the GCI minor and Ballard Center programs.
• Lead student engagement efforts to create welcoming experiences across events, advising, and outreach.
• Build partnerships with faculty, academic advisors, student organizations, and campus offices to expand awareness of Ballard Center opportunities.
• Use feedback and data to evaluate programs and improve the student experience.
• Represent the Ballard Center with professionalism and hospitality to students and partners.

What qualifies you for this role:

Required

• Commitment to the mission of BYU and the Ballard Center for Social Impact.
• Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience in event management, student services, project management, program administration, or a related area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience planning and coordinating events or projects involving multiple timelines, stakeholders, budgets, and operational details.
• Experience supervising, training, coaching, or mentoring employees, students, or volunteers.
• Strong organizational, communication, project management, and problem-solving skills, with sound judgment and discretion.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, university leaders, guests, and community partners.

Preferred

• Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, business, communications, nonprofit management, public administration, or a related field.
• Four or more years of relevant experience in event management, student services, project management, program administration, or related areas.
• Experience in a university, educational, nonprofit, faith-based, or other mission-driven organization, with experience in student engagement, peer advisement, campus outreach, or student employee development.
• Experience managing event budgets, vendors, contracts, speaker processes, or post-event assessment, with knowledge of BYU policies, campus resources, and the BYU student experience.

Typical Starting Pay: $25.75 to $33.50an hour
