Responsibilities
  • The event support specialist oversees part-time staging assistants and is directly responsible for setting open lounge spaces, meeting rooms, and large multifunction ballroom spaces; and performing minor custodial duties as needed. Tasks are coordinated with the event scheduling staff and supervised directly by the Director.
  • The event support specialist utilizes Event Management System and Computer Aided Design software to print daily event reports and event space designs to accomplish daily tasks.
  • Delivery and setup of event spaces in alignment with event schedules and safety guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma/GED equivalent and two years related experience with some experience in a lead or supervisory role.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to keep records and complete forms accurately.
  • Ability to direct and manage the work of others.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts to complete tasks (example: measuring).
  • Physical ability to perform work involving standing, stooping, operating equipment, and lifting.
  • Familiarity with campus-wide safety guidelines and procedures that may require wearing protective footwear or support belts.
  • Knowledge of appropriate safety and security precautions appropriate to the work performed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to establish rapport and maintain positive relationships with college students, campus staff, and visitors.
  • Cooperative spirit in working with peers, supervisors, clients and guests.
  • Familiarity with event staging and support services.
  • Familiarity with space management software.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties
  • Job Knowledge: Demonstrates and executes working knowledge of space configuration and event management software; understands equipment, materials, and methods required for job performance; understands meeting room capacities and uses approved procedures to achieve appropriate room setup specifications.
  • Performance Quality: Conducts quality checks on event setups; ensures cleaning standards are met; executes event setup change requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Supervision: Demonstrates ability to recruit, train, and schedule student staff; addresses performance issues promptly within UNT and departmental guidelines; supports student leadership models.
  • Safety: Works with safe practices; reports unsafe acts or conditions to supervisor immediately.
  • Communication: Communicates effectively with supervisory personnel, coworkers, and supervised students.
  • Adaptability: Identifies and solves problems related to event setups; remains flexible with assignments and priorities.
  • Budget and Inventory: Uses university resources efficiently; conducts equipment and furniture inventory for the department.
  • Event Support: Coordinates event setups in and around the Union and delivers equipment to other locations as required.
Physical Requirements
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
  • Lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Lifting and moving objects up to 100 pounds or more.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Moving self in various positions to perform tasks in tight and confined spaces.
  • Operating machinery and/or power tools.
  • Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.

Work Schedule

Sunday - Wednesday 11am-10pm, Tuesday - Friday 12pm-11pm
