The University of Iowa is seeking an Event Specialist for Hancher Auditorium. This fully on-campus, 100% appointment role supervises front-of-house staff and ensures top-notch service for renters and patrons.

You’ll work with the operations manager to plan rentals and communicate event details across departments to execute events at the highest level. The position requires evening/weekend work, strong communication skills, and experience with event management tools.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Typically 6 months to 1 year of directly related experience.
• 6 months to 1 year supervisory experience.
• Work may occur at other venues around the Iowa City area.
• This position requires evening and weekend work based on event schedule.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams and Adobe platforms.
• Ability to coordinate multiple events and keep files organized.

Mansioni

• Supervise front-of-house staff at assigned events.
• Provide exemplary customer service to renters and patrons.
• Ensure policies, procedures, and safety protocols are followed.
• Collaborate with operations manager on advance planning for rental events.
• Advance event information and communicate with departments to execute events at a high level.
• Monitor and enforce safety protocols and maintain event records in Momentus calendar.
• Assist in interviewing, hiring, and training hourly front-of-house employees.
