Job summary

Spurs Sports & Entertainment (SS&E) is seeking an Event Security Guard II to supervise and support a team during events at Frost Bank Center and Toyota Field. You will deploy staff, brief and train, and ensure adherence to security procedures and guest service standards.

The role requires strong leadership, 2 years supervisory experience, and the ability to obtain a Texas Level II Non-Commissioned Security License within 90 days.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee Event Security Guard I staff during assigned events.

  • Oversee security screening and access-control operations (bag checks, magnetometers, x-ray, metal detectors).
  • Escalate security, safety, or guest concerns to Security Management as needed.
  • Document incidents and maintain a safe, secure environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Security Management.

The Event Security Guard II serves as a frontline supervisor responsible for directing and supporting Event Security Guard I staff during events at Frost Bank Center and Toyota Field. This position assigns staff to designated posts, provides event-specific direction and training, monitors employee performance and compliance with security procedures, and serves as a first point of escalation for security and guest-related situations within an assigned area. The Event Security Guard II is responsible for maintaining company and department security standards and ensuring assigned staff consistently follow established policies and procedures. This position oversees security screening and access-control operations, including bag checks, walkthrough magnetometers, x-ray machines, handheld metal detectors, credential verification, and access to restricted areas. The Event Security Guard II must demonstrate sound judgment and the ability to assess changing situations, provide direction to assigned staff, make timely frontline operational decisions, and elevate significant security, safety, employee, or guest concerns to Security Management when appropriate. Starting pay is $14.50/hr. and will increase to $17.50/hr. after 90 days of employment. All SS&E Security personal are required to obtain and maintain a Level II Non-Commissioned Security License from the Texas Department of Public Safety within the first 90 days of employment. The pay increase is contingent on obtaining a Level II Non-Commissioned Security License. Failure to obtain a Level II Non-Commissioned Security License within the first 90 days may result in termination of employment.

What You’ll Do:
  • Assign, direct, and oversee Event Security Guard I staff during assigned events, including staff deployment, post assignments, coverage adjustments, and communication of event-specific expectations.
  • Conduct pre-event briefings and provide ongoing training, coaching, and direction to assigned Event Security Guard I staff to support consistent execution of security procedures, guest service standards, and departmental expectations.
  • Oversee security screening and access-control operations within assigned areas, including bag checks, walkthrough magnetometers, x-ray machines, handheld metal detectors, credential verification, and access to restricted or secured areas.
  • Serve as a frontline point of escalation for security, safety, guest, and operational concerns; assess situations, direct appropriate response efforts, and determine when Security Management, law enforcement, medical personnel, or other resources should be engaged.
  • Monitor employee performance and compliance with SS&E and department policies, address concerns through real-time coaching or corrective direction, and communicate significant or recurring performance, conduct, staffing, or operational concerns to Security Management.
  • Observe, respond to, and appropriately document security incidents, emergencies, suspicious activity, guest complaints, disruptive behavior, and other significant events while maintaining a safe, secure, and professional environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Security Management.
Who You Are:
  • Preferred: 2 years supervisory, management and/or leadership experience.
  • Preferred: 3 years’ experience in the field of security.
  • Equivalent combinations of professional experience, internal Event Security experience, leadership performance, and operational knowledge may be considered at management discretion.
  • Ability to achieve and maintain a State Security level II non-commissioned license
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of how to operate a walkthrough magnetometer and x-ray machines.
  • Must be able to work long hours, flexible hours including evenings, weekends, overnight and holidays.
  • Must be able to work the minimum of 70% of events each month.
  • Must possess the ability to meet dress standards.
  • Must be able to work at both the Frost Bank Center and Toyota Field for all events assigned.
  • Must maintain the standards set forth in the Frost Bank Center Event Security Policies & Procedures Manual.
  • Able to work outdoor events in hot, cold, wet, or windy conditions throughout the duration of the shift.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience providing leadership or work direction in a security, event, hospitality, military, law-enforcement, or similar operational environment.
  • Entertainment or live-event industry experience.
  • CPR Certification and/or Basic First Aid certification.
  • Knowledge of law enforcement or experience in security, military, law enforcement, entertainment, or venue operations.
Physical Requirements
  • Occasionally able to lift and carry 25 pounds or more.
  • Constantly able to work outdoor events in hot, cold, wet, or windy conditions throughout the duration of an assigned shift.
  • Occasionally able to ascend and descend multiple flights of stairs in arena and outdoor stadium environments.
  • Constantly able to stand and/or walk for extended periods throughout an assigned shift.
  • Occasionally able to bend and kneel to complete work.
